goal setting tips
Mid-way through the year I like to look at my goals I have set for the year, and re-evaluate and ask myself some questions to be sure I am on the right track, mark things off if they have been completed or adjust my goals if needed. We often do a big goal setting at the beginning of the year but rarely look back on the plan we made to get from A to B. We have to evaluate, take action & adjust as needed. Life is not linear and neither will the path to achieving your goals. So let’s look at some things to ask yourself as we are half way through 2023.
Are those goals still applicable to my life? Sometimes life changes, ideas change, career & personal goals change so it is important to re-examine your goals that you set in January. For me, I decided my health goal was not specific enough. “Be healthier” is way too vague. I started working with a nutritionist about 9 weeks ago. My goals now center around our work together and are MUCH more specific like avoid my inflammatory foods, drink 100oz of water a day, stick to my plan 80-90% of the week.
Any timelines need to be readjusted on my goals? Again, life happens. So looking at what is realistic on the timeline of the goals you want to accomplish by the end of the year and also maybe cross something off your list! We have some home projects that I just was really ambitious thinking we would get done way sooner than we have. My husband, Lee, works 50-70 hours some weeks. I work full time + this new business + parenting a 2.5 year old does not exactly allow alot of free time. Giving ourselves grace, and adjusting the timeline/expectations has been hugely helpful! We have narrowed it down to 2 things that I would be THRILLED to have checked off by the time fall comes around.
Is there anything new I want to add to my goals list for the year? In January, one of my big goals was to launch my planner which is still a goal of mine but I didn’t think these other products would come along! So I am now adding a new goal for this new business of some other products I am going to prioritize.
If you are wanting to adjust your goals for the rest of the year or honestly just getting around to setting them (no shame — there are many times this has been me!), grab your free goal planner here. There are a bunch of worksheets to decide what your priorities are, where you are going to put your energy, and then we break down your goals into 2 week sprint
